New
Affliate
I've added a new affliate, Colin
Firth Online. Great site, check it out! Site button coming soon.
Toronto
International Film Festival
Laura was in Toronto for the premiere of Love Actually at the
Elgin Theatre. It was screened Sunday evening as well as Monday. Unfortunately,
I have school and couldn't get down to Toronto so there won't be any
experiences for this one. For the first time since 2000 she was back
in my hometown and I couldn't even go :( A few pics are available.
Click here to see the official
one sheet thanks to Ruth
@ discoverkate.
And this is Laura with Colin Firth in Toronto and then Rodigo Santero
at the premiere of Carandiru also in TO.

Roger
Dodger writer/director Dylan Kidd has cast Topher Grace and Laura Linney
as the leads in his new romantic comedy P.S.. Filming begins
September 27 in New York. The film is an adaptation of Helen Schulman's
novel about a woman who falls in love with a man 15 years her junior

Laura
in San Fran
Currently, Laura's been spotted in San Fransisco at the Pride Parade,
much like the one here in Toronto. Laura was with good friend Armistead
Maupin and dressed in costume of Mary Ann Singleton from Tales
of the City. She also met with wannabe CA governor Bill Simon
and 15-year old Marina Gatto.
As for the pics...I hate picture galleries but it's coming along.

Kinsey
still going
Liam Neeson was recently in Indiana researching his upcoming role
in the tentatively titled Kinsey. No mention if Laura went
with him. Looks like the movie is still going on though. It seems
like it's been talked about for a long time and they haven't really
started pre-production. We could be in for a long wait. posted

Who
wants to go to Alaska?
I certainly would. It turns out that Laura Linney will be at the 2003
Last Frontier Theatre Conference. She's a newcomer to the event
which is held in Valdez, Alaska June 19 - 29. It includes workshops,
screenings, lectures, lunches, etc. Seriously, everything an aspiring
actor could want. Laura will be teaching a master class workshop called
Acting with Laura Linney and she will be master of cermonies for one
of the evenings. Her father, Romulus Linney will also be present.
And it's pretty cheap too! Assuming getting to Alaska is cheap and
easy for you. $15 for a single day's events. $25 for evening events.
Everything together is $255. 4 of her films will also be watched.
More info is at ValdezLink. posted

Kinsey
locations - New York
It seems that Kinsey is in fact being moved. How wonderful.
Yeah, it's filming in New York. That's good for Laura cos then she
can go home at the end of the day. It's just too bad Toronto couldn't
do it. Stupid SARS crap. Don't even get me started on that. Hmm, well
more news on Kinsey as I get it. I'm actually kinda confused
about this. I'm starting to think this film may never get made. There
was quite a bit of adversity to it when it was announced and there
is still no news about it. And as far as most people know, no production
company, distributor (altho Fox Searchlight was rumoured to take it
on), no anything. Oh well, time will tell. posted

TLODG
on video/DVD Life of David Gale is coming out on video in July 22, 2003.
Which personally, I think is pretty fast. So far, i don't know about
any special features or anything else about the disk. However, I do
know that the video will cost $75 USD which sucks for everyone who
just has a VCR. The dvd will be much, much cheaper. Here's a cover
shot of the DVD case: Here. posted

Brown
University rewards it's grads
On Monday Laura will be recieving an honourary doctorate of Fine Arts
from Brown University where she studied. It will take place during
the 235th Commencment ceremony. Here is the text of the citation: "Daughter of Brown, star of stage and screen, you make us
proud. Few actors in your generation shine so brilliantly. Throughout
your journey from the theaters of this campus to the footlights of
Broadway and the red carpet of the Academy Awards, you have shown
the world your deep love and respect for the craft of acting. Your
passion, intelligence, and talent infuse the characters you become
and transport the audiences you enchant. Brown University stands tall
among your international legion of fans and salutes you as a divine
Doctor of Fine Arts, honoris causa."
Congrats Laura Linney! More can be found at the Brown
website at the news page for the 235th Commencement. Other recipients
include: Lowery Stokes Sims and Sam Nunn. posted May

Mothman
Prophecies continued...
I decided to suck it up and watch the film again. After watching it,
after not having watched it for about 8 months, I remembered what
draw me to it in the first place. And I'm glad I did. It's called
re-inspiration and I think this site may be on the upswing again...
Not to mention I had a very, very good dream about Richard
Gere last night, which is coincidentally what prompted me to pop it
in again. Oh yeah, and here's the box art for the Special Edition.
Also,
I read another review of the new SE, and apparently one of the deleted
scenes "expands" on John and Connie's relationship (and
it's the longest scene). Damn right. Yay! posted May

Kinsey?
As far as I know, Kinsey has not started filming. Probably
due to that SARS crap. Well, maybe it has and I just don't know. I
hope they continued with the plan of filming it in Toronto. Last I
heard it was in pre-production in March when it was supposed to be
filming. Also, thanks to everyone who signed the guestbook! posted May

'Celebs
Unite Against Future of Maine'
According to Magic City Morning Star, Laura Linney is one of the actresses
part of the advisory committee regarding the future of Maine's forests.
The committee is called Restore: The North Woods. This cause
is "trying to generate support in Congress for a national park
that would extend westward from Millinocket to the Quebec border,
including an area larger than the total amount of land claimed by
Yellowstone and Yosemite national parks combined." posted May 20, 2003
Laura's
New Play
Technically it's not a new play for her, but she's taking a role in
Sight Unseen again. Playbill.com says that it will preview
May 6. It's unclear what year, but I assume it's not this year, but
next since the article was published May 12, 2003. posted May 20, 2003
Mothman
Prophecies: SE in North America
That's right. Finally we get the Special Edition DVD of this film.
Coming out on May 27. Read some reviews. Sounds pretty much like the
Austrailian one. 2 discs. Deleted scenes. Audio Commentary. Some specials.
As far as I've read, the deleted scenes are nothing to get excited
about. Actually, it seems the whole DVD set is nothing to get excited
about. Unfortunately, Mark Pellington is a dumbass and didn't put
any scenes with Connie and John and Connie's son, who was completely
cut from the entire film. Now that woulda been worth the $28 USD that
this DVD is selling for. posted May 20, 2003
Mystic
River @ Cannes
Yep, an update, not much of one but justa heads up that Laura's new
film Mystic River was screened at the Cannes Film Festival.
Haven't heard much on the reviews side but it's only a matter of time.
Just a little side note: You most likely have noticed the lack of
updates in the past months and that's pretty much cos I lost interest
truthfully. I have certain personal issues with this site but this
isn't a soapbox or a therapist's couch so I'll leave it at that. Just
a little note to say, yeah, I'm back for a bit but I'm not sure how
long it'll last.
