Little Known Facts:

Here's a great list of really interesting facts about Laura, her life and childhood that you may not know already. I've compiled these myself after a lot of research so enjoy!

· Her ribs are ticklish.
· She says she was the worst at reading and writing in her class.
· She worked as a waitress in Manhattan when she was 23. (Laura Linney once burst into tears because of a cheeseburger. A customer inquiring about his long-overdue burger looked at her with such hatred, she says, "I just went hysterical.")

· Appeared in theater in Connecticut: Lead role, Betty, in John Guare's "Landscape of the Body" @ Yale Rep Theater: New Haven, CT.

· She is superstitious
· She didn't own a TV until the year 2000, and bought a computer in Febuary 2001.
· During her childhood, she didn't enjoy competitive sports instead prefering equestrian sports (riding horses).
· Laura performed the part of Ada in "Childe Byron" at her undergraduate alma mater, Brown University, in 1986. That was the only time she's performed in her father's plays.
· Every summer, she attended Camp Equinita in New Milford, Pennsylvania, with her friends.
· She was a Camp Susquehanna dramatics Oscar winner in 1974
· She had an imaginary sister whom she blamed when she wrote on the wall or spilled milk on the carpet.
· Armistead Maupin, 56, who has become one of her best friends since they met on the first Tales of the City series, accompanied her to the 2000 Oscars™.
· Her childhood favourite TV shows were The Waltons, The Brady Bunch, The Partridge Family and Little House on the Prairie. She was obsessed with shows about families.
· From age 11, she spent a month out of the next two summers, at the stock theatre in New Hampshire (New London Barn Playhouse), building sets, hanging lights and sweeping the stage.
· One opening night at her father's play (as a child) she wandered up and down the aisles, telling people "My daddy wrote this play!"
